A HOTEL has launched its much-anticipated festive menu - with every element sourced from Cumbria - including a warming Christmas ale.

Oscar’s restaurant and bar at the Abbey House Hotel and Gardens will welcome diners to enjoy the mouth-watering dishes between November 26 and December 30.

Everything on the menu is made from ingredients which are sourced from local suppliers, while the hotel has teamed up with the Ulverston Brewing Co for a special Christmas tipple.

General manager John Horton anticipates a rush in bookings as his team prepares for the festive period.

He said: “Christmas at Abbey House is always a very popular time, especially for people in local communities who love to soak up the festive atmosphere of the hotel and its grounds.

“We put a huge effort into ensuring guests at the hotel, be they simply joining us for a meal, or with us for a mini break, really feel that Christmas has arrived.

“As ever, we are delighted to be working with a number of local companies to source our ingredients, and I’m particularly happy with our Abbey House Festive Ale, which builds upon our already very strong relationship with the Ulverston Brewing Co.

“It really is a lovely, warming mahogany ale with a festive spiced finish and just perfect for a winter’s day when the weather is cold outside.”

With three choices per course, the menu is priced at £10 for one course, £15 for two and £20 for a full three-course meal.

Guests who book before November 26 will receive a complimentary glass of mulled wine on arrival.
