AN inquest will take place this week after a 51-year-old Millom woman was killed when she got out of her car on the hard shoulder of the M6.

Tatiana Grieve was hit by a heavy goods vehicle on December 19 last year after getting out of her silver Toyota Rav 4.

She is understood to have been hit while she was on the hard shoulder just before the turn-off for Barrow.

She was declared dead after being taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The driver of the lorry was a 54-year-old man from the Leeds area.

Police appealed for anyone who may have seen Mrs Grieve or her vehicle on the M6 just south of junction 36 at approximately 12.10am.

Two lanes of the motorway were closed for a number of hours while a collision investigation was carried out.

The inquest is due to take place at County Hall in Kendal on Friday November 23.
