A SCOOTER club in Barrow have rallied together to raise money for two local charities close to their hearts.

Ready Steady Go South Cumbria Scooter Club have raised over £1200 for St Mary's Hospice and Alice's Escapes.

Gary James, a member of the scooter club, said the riders wanted to keep the charities local.

He said: "We decided to pick two charities that are personal to us.

"St Mary's Hospice do an amazing job and looked after the sister-in-law of a member of the biker club before she died.

"We also did fundraising for Alice's Escapes because my son's friend passed away and this charity was suitable for fundraising.

"These two charities do fantastic work and it was very fitting for the club to help them."

"The events were brilliant and everyone who attended had a great time."

Over 300 bikers came to a soul night and a rally, both held at Hawcoat Park.

Bikers from all over the country attended the weekend event in August.

Competitions and prizes given out including furthest biker who attended.
