1 WINTER Wilson are living the dream, but it could all have been so different. Both with successful full-time careers in international marketing and social services, the duo of Kip Winter and partner Dave Wilson had for many years managed to fit part-time touring into holidays and weekends. In 2012, the aftermath of the financial crash left both Kip and Dave facing redundancy. They saw it though as a one-off opportunity and decided to take a chance and turned professional. 2 TWO giants of the north east jazz scene play the music of hot club jazz pioneers Venuti and Lang in an evening of virtuosic guitar and violin at Levens Village Institute, next Thursday, November 22 (8pm), bringing together their shared knowledge and love of early jazz styles. As part of the Highlights Rural Touring Scheme, Emma Fisk and James Birkett perform hot violin and guitar jazz from the 1920s and 30s, including a selection of compositions by Venuti and Lang such as Cheese and Crackers, Sunshine, and Black and Blue Bottom plus specially composed originals and some of Emma and James' favourite tunes. The music is interspersed with musical and biographical snippets.

3 FROM Judy to Bette: the Stars of Old Hollywood is powerhouse performer Rebecca Perry's latest show. Laced with luscious melodies and scandalous headlines from the golden age of Hollywood, it promises to add even more accolades to those the Canadian actor has already collected. In her new production - which plays at The Beggar’s Theatre at Millom on Thursday, November 22 - Rebecca sings the songs that helped make the fabulous four screen stars of Judy Garland, Betty Hutton, Lucille Ball and Bette Davis famous, as well as telling their remarkable stories. 4 FOR the past 15 years the Red Hot Chilli Pipers have become the most famous bagpipe band on the planet. In fact, there's probably never been anything quite like them. During the winter of 2015/2016 the Pipers recorded new tracks and released a their studio album Octane. It represents a high energy, powerful, intense and inspiring album, a continued fusion of traditional tunes and rock classics, taking Bagrock to a whole new level. This year the Red Hot Chilli Pipers continue their world tour stopping off at The Forum, Barrow on Saturday, December 1. 5 ORIGINAL live music features in Luna at Ulverston's Coronation Hall tomorrow (Tuesday, November 20). Presented by Theatre Hullabaloo and Theatre Iolo, the enchanting first time theatre experience for two to five year olds and their families is about friendship, the moon and being brave in the dark. The play tells of Luna who is bored up in the sky with no one to play with. Although she is surrounded by stars, they never quite understand her - it's very lonely being the only moon. One night, as she is racing among the stars, she spots a young boy hiding from the shadows in his bedroom. Billy and his favourite toy, Pig, don't like dark and do all they can to distract themselves from the scary shadows. Luna decides to slide down the sky to make friends with Billy.
