SOUTH Cumbria went spotty as people, schools and businesses celebrated this year’s Children in Need with a wide array of different fundraising activities.

Schools across the region held days geared towards bake sales, wearing polka-dot clothing or pyjamas, and dress up days.

Children taking part in dress up days all paid a small donation to help Children in Need.

Along with this, the Plod for Pudsey campaign has been taking place this week.

Roger Johnson, Annabel Tiffin and Dianne Oxberry from BBC North West set out on a 20 mile walk from Earnsey Point in Walney to the Wirral Coastline via the schools of Walney and Barrow on Monday, and continued on their tour through Cumbria across the rest of the week.

They finished their epic walk last night just in time for the epic celebrations as the nation came together to help good causes.

Glen Garth House staff attended Barrow Market yesterday pulling out all the stops to do their part, wearing yellow t-shirts and Pudsey ears to try fill their buckets with donations for the good cause.

The children of Brisbane Park Primary and Newton Primary in Barrow both celebrated with a variety of colourful costumes themed around Children in Need, sporting eyepatch makeup, headbands stating ‘I Love Pudsey’, and branded t-shirts, with all funds raised making their way to the BBC run campaign.

Ireleth St Peter’s CE held a bake sale to help raise extra money for charity, selling a variety of polka-dot cupcakes and buns to the children.

Ramsden infant and nursery held a talent show on Thursday night where children showcased their different skills.

The school were also provided with a skip from Sinkfall Recycling free of charge to help the school’s recycling efforts.

Ramsden Robins baked a batch of spotted cookies with the children and managed to raise a substantial amount of money.

Coniston Boating Centre hosted a ‘rowathon’ to help raise their own share of funds, with members rowing five mile lengths of the lake in a relay that lasted long after sun down as members pushed themselves to the limit, rowing boats alone from shore to shore.

The girls of Love2Dance in Barrow held a charity show last night at Hawcoat Park, managing to raise over £4000 in the lead up to Children in Need through a set of different events as well as their main Children in Need performance.
