A LANDSCAPING project which revitalised a run-down area of Barrow Island has been shortlisted for a prestigious international award.

The regenerated public area at Maritime Apartments has been shortlisted for the annual Landscape Institute Awards.

The institute received more than 160 entries from firms and practitioners around the world.

The 36 shortlisted projects showcase the breadth of exceptional work across the landscape profession, including landscape design, planning, management and research – in particular, the powerful impact this work has on people’s lives.

The Landscape Institute (LI) is the chartered body for the landscape profession and is the professional home for all landscape practitioners including landscape scientists, landscape planners, landscape architects, landscape managers and urban designers. It is an educational charity that promotes the art and science of landscape practice.

The LI’s aim, through the work of its members is to protect, conserve and enhance the natural and built environment for the public benefit.

The winners will be announced at the Awards ceremony on Thursday 22 November at The Brewery in London.
