CAMPAIGNERS for Grange Lido have already raised £2,000 as they battle to regenerate the site.

The community and businesses are backing to save the Lido, which has fallen into disrepair in recent years.

The money is still coming in and it has even been used in an ITV show as a location shot in the upcoming drama The Bay, which featured actors dressed as policemen at the site.

Darren Milby, from the Save Grange Lido Group, said: “The next step once we’ve raised the money is to draft up plans and take them to the council to hopefully get them approved.

“But so far we’ve had a lot of success in the week and a half we’ve started raising the money, I think we’re up to £2,000.”

Various businesses in the area have put money forward to support the Lido, one being Diamond Dogs salon who are donating 10 per cent of grooming fees to the lido fund.

Rachael Harrison, manager of Diamond Dogs said: “I’ve very fond memories from growing up, when we’d go over there as children.

“I’m quite sad that council have chosen not to back plans to restore it.

“I think it would be really good for all the local businesses in the area if it opened back up, cause more people would be attracted to Grange.”

As well as Diamond Dogs, the Commodore Inn recently donated a bucket off copper coins weighing 11kilos and containing over £30.
