THIS week we asked Mail readers to nominate the best cafe, pub or restaurant in Barrow for a good old English breakfast...

1. Mammy's Cafe, Barrow Market

Since taking over in April Jen and Sue have found plenty of fans with Joanne Haddow, Leah Grieve and Stephanie Christian choosing this spot as the best.

2. The Coffee Bean, Dalton Road

Patrica Robinson said the Bean's brekkies are "the best cooked breakfasts I've had for a long time".

3. Cakes 'n' Shakes, Anchor Road

Laura Morgan loves this Barrow Island cafe's breakfasts so much she even shared a picture of her full English. And her favourite was shared by plenty of other readers.

4. Morrisons, The Strand

For £6 you can get a 19-piece Daddy's Breakfast: 1Three rashers of bacon, three sausages, three hash browns, two half slices of fried bread, two fried eggs, two half tomatoes, two black puddings, baked beans and sliced mushrooms.

5. Diggles, Dalton Road

Both Chezza Newburn and Sarah Pendleton nominated this well-known Barrow cafe as their favourite for a full English. And having served food since 1963 Diggles know that bacon's at its best when it's crispy.

6. Brewer's Fayre, North Road

At £9.50 the breakfasts here are among some of the dearest in Barrow but that doesn't seem to put people off. Their unlimited hot breakfast even has a choice of smoky or streaked back bacon and Quorn sausages for the vegetarians.

7. The Red River Club, Flass Lane

Matt Waddington says it's "the best by far" and it certainly looks impressive from his submitted picture (above). Lee Sharples agreed and said: "Fantastic food, fantastic staff and at a price that doesn't hurt your pocket."

8. Bosun's Locker, Roa Island

Gary Mallinson found it tricky to choose his all-time favourite but said: "Bosuns locker my favourite by far but the custom house and red river club aren’t all that far away. All freshly cooked and non of it left waiting under heat lamps."

9. Furness Railway, Abbey Road

Both Lee Richardson and Carly Buckingham said the Wetherspoon's full English was the best "hands down".

Clearly a rival for Brewer's Fayre with a number of readers including Elysia Postlethwaite and Gemma Tyson both finding it impossible to choose between the two.

10. The Ferry, Promenade

Definitely one for those with big appetites. Steven Peri said: "If you can eat it they'll keep feeding you it." This Stonehouse Carvery's breakfast includes all-you-can-eat sausages, back bacon, free range eggs, hash browns, baked beans, plum tomatoes, fried bread, toast and jam.
