INVESTIGATION works are going to be carried out at a well-known flooding spot in Dalton.

The road around Parker’s Pond at Greystone Lane, is still flooding, despite special pumping equipment being in place, a meeting of Barrow Local Committee was told on Friday.

Local highways manager for the county council, Keiron Tetchner, said a pumping operation to stop flooding was getting blocked with debris.

The council was going to look into the issue to help drain the area, he said. The issue was raised by Des English (Con, Dalton South).

In addition, an investigation is to be carried out into flooding on the Promenade at Walney.

Raw sewerage has been washed up on the road and local councillor Melvyn Worth (Lab, Walney North) wants United Utilities to look at the issue.

Manhole covers have led to the sewer system popping up after heavy rain - leading to raw sewerage being discharged.
