South Lakeland District Council is being urged to use an unexpected £167,000 parking windfall to provide free weekend parking during December to boost the high street in the run-up to Christmas period.
The call is being made by Grange councillor Tom Harvey, the deputy leader of the local authority’s Conservative group, who wants the council to use the parking fees surplus to provide free weekend parking and help boost high streets in towns and villages this Christmas.
