A LAKE District hotel which has undergone a £16m redevelopment has been shortlisted for a national award for the high standards of its health and fitness facilities.

Low Wood Bay Resort and Spa is in the running for the Health Club of the Year award at the National Fitness Awards in Leicester at the end of this year.

Andy Sharples, of English Lakes Hotels Resorts and Venues, who manages the Health Club at Low Wood Bay, said “This is the first time that we have been nominated for the national health club of the year award category which is an achievement.

“We will be up against some really strong competition from full-service city and rural based health clubs from all over the country.

“The team is thrilled that we have been shortlisted – it reflects their hard work, the standard of our newly refurbished facilities, and the full package we are able to offer.

“We are looking forward to the awards night in Leicester with great excitement.”

The revamp including a refurbishment of the hotels’s existing rooms, the creation of 46 extra bedrooms and an atrium and the opening of a new restaurant, Blue Smoke.
