Hundreds of enthusiastic runners turned out at several parkrun events across the county over the weekend on a cold November morning.

Ford Park’s 13th run that saw 88 participants complete the course with four of those making their debuts, six returning for the 2nd time at the park and a brilliant 18 PBs being recorded.

John Bates, from Marple parkrun, made Ford the venue for his 222nd event, with other visitors from Slough, Manchester and Penrith.

Connor O’Hara was the first over the line with a respectable time of 20:04.

Second place went to Craig Miller from Huddersfield in 21:03 and Ronnie Haddow came third in his seventh parkrun to date.

Hoad Hill Harrier Janet Heffernan was the first woman to cross the line with a time of 23:29 and milestone 10th run was completed by Junior runner Oliver Oldham, who deservedly earned his parkrun 10 t-shirt.

Over at Barrow parkrun, it was a cold morning but that did not stop 163 runners turning out to take part.

It was also junior volunteer week at Barrow and the event saw almost all the volunteering positions filled by youngsters, ably assisted by the occasional grown-up – a tremendous effort by all.

Barrow welcomed 15 first timers, 22 people recording PBs and representatives of 13 different clubs attending.

Nathan Pears, a junior runner, completed his 10th parkrun, with Viky Donnelly and Julie Wilson each completing their 50th and Jo Waddington hitting a century.

At Millom parkrun, Black Coombe Runner John Evason blitzed the course and finished with a time of 21: 04 – his new PB.

A total of 23 runners braved the chilly temperatures, with John Rodgers finishing second in a time of 22:33 and Lee Thompsett coming third.

In her 37th parkrun, Helen Tyson was the first woman to cross the line in 34:48.

A special thanks must go to Sarah Lupton, who volunteered for the 60th time on Saturday morning.

Ironically, Fell Foot’s 196th parkrun saw 196 park runners turn out on Saturday, one of the highest turnouts to date. An unknown runner finished first, quickly followed by Alex Parsons, a first-timer, and Ambleside AC Jack Wright with a time of 17:52.

Emma Johnston, a Helm Hill Runner, was the first woman to finish in a time of 21:07 – half a minute off her PB.
