A WORKING life on a cruise liner was just the ticket for a Furness hairdresser 25 years ago.
The Mail, on August 12 in 1993, noted: “A hairdresser who learned her trade at Furness College is set to trim fringes around the world.
“Amanda Mellish, of Napier Street, Dalton, is joining the salon staff of an ocean-going cruise ship.”
She said: “My first cruise is likely to be to Miami and Jamaica.”
She was manageress of Flair Hair Design, in Hawcoat, Barrow.
The former Dowdales School pupil studied hairdressing, make-up and manicure at Furness College and her new job was with the Coiffeur Trans Ocean group.
