THIS week The Mail asked its readers where serves the best steak dinner in Barrow, Ulverston and Millom. And the answer that unanimously came back was King Billy's at Kirkstanton.

1 Steak fans said the quality of the meat and King Billy's other specialities such as spare ribs made this restaurant one not to be missed.

Mail reader Melvin Crowther said on Facebook: "There's not anywhere better than the King Billy, Kirksanton for a steak dinner in my opinion."

Simon Chappers Chapman added: "King Billy Grill, hands down."

The only downside is its a little drive out. But Michael O'Brien said: "The King Billy - no contest."

2 Hartley's, Market Street, Dalton

The restaurant is a real hit among foodies in Furness. Praised for its home cooked food, great produce and friendly atmosphere many dinners said the steaks were a real hit.

One Mail reader said: Delicious flavours throughout. Eldest had the steak and the youngest had nuggets. Then we all had puddings! We all enjoyed every last morsel."

3 Masons butchers, Rawlinson Street, Barrow

In the hunt for the best steak dinner some Mail readers think they have found the best option - cook it at home. And for some that dinner starts with a visit to Mason's Butchers.

Tony Miller said: "Best steaks by far Masons butchers I can even cook them and I struggle to cook a pizza."

4 The Mill, Ulverston

Described by foodies as a must visit destination Mail readers do not disagree. With many agreeing the steak is a must order.

5 The Stagger Inn, Long Lane, Stainton

This gastropub is a firm favourite for those looking for a nice meal. Mail readers described the steaks as "amazing".

6 Furness Railway, Abbey Road, Barrow

When looking for a quick, good value meal then Mail readers said Wetherspoons is a good shout. Its family friends, wallet friendly and has a good varied menu to suit all tastes. Plus the steaks are good.

7 Duke of Edinburgh, Abbey Road, Barrow

A firm favourite on the Barrow food front, many Mail readers said they would opt for a local 10oz sirloin steak or 10oz ribeye steak from The Duke.

8 Townhouse, Dalton Road, Barrow

With a dedicated steak and ale night on a Wednesday, The Townhouse has placed itself firmly in the weekly calendar among foodies.
