FELL Foot parkrun stalwart John Nettleton MBE made it a double celebration on Saturday, celebrating his 90th birthday and the fourth anniversary of the run at the National Trust site.

John recently completed 100 stints as a volunteer at the weekly 5k jog and has taken part 85 times, notching a personal best time of 33.30 a couple of years ago.

Marking John’s achievements as a volunteer last month, run director Ron Eadington said: “John is a perfect example of what parkrun is all about.”

Peter Bird marked his 75th run by finishing top at Fell Foot in 18.02.

Joseph Conner, of Helm Hill Runners finished second, closely followed by first-timer Pete Stevens.

Ackworth Road runner Karen Ball notched a new personal best of 19:49 and was the first lady to cross the finishing line.

Barrow parkrun saw 173 people turn out to take part on Saturday morning.

Young flyer Ryan Everett celebrated his 100th run by finishing first in a time of 18:27.

Out of those 100 appearances at parkrun he’s finished first an incredible 48 times.

Andrew Dorrian came second and third place was claimed by a visiting runner, Alice Leake.

She ran a time of 19:11, placing her in the all-time top 10 fastest women to finish the course.

Second placed woman was Levens Valley Athletics club member Karen Oldham with a time of 21:46.

Third place was Walney Wind Cheetah Amy Singleton in 22:12.

The stand-out performance went to Holly Gommersall, who knocked nearly two minutes of her previous best - a time of 25:58.

A cold morning at Millom saw 36 runners turn out for their 97th event.

Stephen Smith, of Preston Harriers, finished first with a time of 20:33.

Ross Butcher recorded a new personal best of 21:04 as he came second, followed by John Rodgers in third.

Another PB was earned by Joanne McLeod of Barrow and Furness Striders - recording a time of 24:09.

Ford parkrun welcomed 114 participants of all ages and abilities.

Tourist runners made up the numbers, many from Newcastle, Wythenshawe, York and Edinburgh.

David Goadby finished first in 19:28 a first-timer.

Second Jakob Nelson in 20:07, a new PB and David McNally finished third.

Georgia Bell was the first woman to finish in 21:08.

All parkrun organiser have expressed their thanks to every volunteer over the weekend.
