READERS and visitors to Cumbria have had their say over their top picks for a cup of joe in the south of the county.

1. The Cumbrian Coffee Company, Goadsbarrow

This popular mobile coffee shop is stationed along the A5087 coast road. It serves up freshly-made doughnuts, ground coffee, hot chocolate and cold drinks to take away.

2. The Coffee Bean, Dalton Road

The Barrow high-street cafe is a popular choice among town residents. The Coffee Bean is often recognised for its friendly-down-to-earth approach to service.

3. Brew Brothers, Kendal

This independent 'shabby chic' coffee house is located in the heart of the South Lakes. Their food and drink can now be ordered via Uber Eats

4. Abbey Mill Coffee Shop, Barrow

The coffee shop has been running services throughout the year despite the troubles the hospitality industry has faced in 2020.

Serves everything from coffee to food, and one recent reviewer said: “Great food. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff and the cakes are amazing. We will be back.”

5. Smilers Coffee Shop – Dalton Road, Barrow

The coffee shop on Dalton Road is one for good coffee, but is also popular for its range of hot and cold food that is serves to keep customers coming back.

6. Mr Tilley’s Coffee Shop – Crellin Street, Barrow

Rated as four out of five on trip advisor, Mr Tilley’s is known for its range of hot and cold food, as well as the hot drinks, including ground coffee, that is services to its customers.

7. Nina’s – Kendal

The coffee shop, located in the Westmorland Shopping Centre, has received a number of reviews for its coffee. One reviewer said: “Great Coffee...Wonderful big bacon butties and outside seating watching the world go by or people watch buying from the market.”

8. Cartmel Coffee- Grange over Sands

An overall 4.5 out of five on trip advisor, the coffee shop in Grange is known for its great service and top coffee.

One recent reviewer said: “A super cup of coffee served in a caring manner."

9. Waterhead coffee shop, Ambleside

A review said of the Ambleside coffee shop this month: “Went back twice in one day! Coffee was good an the homemade blueberry scones with hot rum butter and cream were delicious.

10. The Hot Mango Cafe, Ulverston

A small, stylish cafe located on King's Street. A number of reviewers have praised its cooked breakfasts as well as its soups.
