A SOUTH Cumbrian vocal group will be holding a live concert that coincides with the launch of the Mamma Mia 2 movie.

With a medley from the film, a Scottish folk song, Latin choral arrangements and pieces from Robbie Williams and Steps, this year's Summer Concert from Ulverston's female voice choir The Ghyll Singers promises to be extra special.

The choral evening will take place this Friday, at 7.30pm, in Ulverston's Coronation Hall, with tickets available from the venue in advance or on the night itself.

The event will offer a relaxed Friday night out, with plenty of toe-tapping numbers and beautifully arranged choral pieces.

The highlight of the evening looks set to be a 15-minute medley of songs taken from the well-loved and world-renowned musical, Mamma Mia.

ABBA songs such as Dancing Queen, SOS and Waterloo will be belted out by the Ulverston ladies and will be sure to get audiences singing along.

The concert coincides with the release of the hotly-anticipated sequel, which will see Meryl Streep and Amanda Seyfried return to the big screen, joined by pop legend Cher, who will be playing Meryl Streep's mother.

The Ghyll Singers' musical director, Deborah Milledge, said: "We are very pleased that the concert coincides with the opening of the new Mamma Mia film.

"However, we are only performing for the one night and the film will be running all week so I hope people choose to come and watch us perform on Friday and then see the film at a later date.

"The concert will be an array of songs that we have been working on all year.

"We have a wonderful group of ladies in the Ghyll Singers - singing is my life and it is truly amazing for lifting your mood and for improving your mental and physical health."
