CHRISTMAS 2014 saw a variety of festival events occur across the county, ranging from visits from decorative street lightening, mass gatherings and parties.
Coniston enjoyed its winter crafts fairs with more than 30 stalls on offer for the public. Gifts included ceramics, jewellery, felt work, original artwork, baskets, rag rugs, handmade books, decorations, and cards.
Ambleside’s lights switch on was preceded by the town’s lantern procession.
Residents travelled through the town at dusk and ended the evening with a grand firework finale.
A parade took place in Windermere and Bowness, as a craft fair was set up with included Santa’s grotto during the day.
The festive gathering took place in the evening in Queen’s Park. A fire works display was also on the schedule.
The Askham Hall Christmas Market draw hundreds of visitors in 2014. The market was set up in a converted barn and medieval banquet hall with more 45 stalls offering local produce, crafts, and seasonal gifts.
