Barrow Raiders won a game later described as a "demolition" over Barrow District Select in 2015.

With an ending score of 62-6 in favour of the Raiders, the win over the pick of local talent demonstrated the size of the gap between the professionals and amateurs.

It emphasised why coach Paul Crarey puts so much emphasis on a strong link between the Raiders and the community clubs.

The 62-6 scoreline suggested that the clash acted only as a serious training run for the Raiders, but this did not take away the praise that was put on the spirited Barrow and District Select squad who battled on even as the match got away from them.

The momentum was with the professionals from the start after Nathan Mossop scored the first try after barely 60 seconds of match time.

For the rest of the first half, they had to work for what they got.

The second try from Shane Toal via Josh Ward and Chris Hankinson after 10 minutes – and another from Brad Marwood five minutes later were skilled pieces of play.
