WE look back through the Evening Mail photographic archives to Dalton's Christmas Lights Switch On from 1998.

Take a look through the photos and see if you can spot yourselves, a relative or a friend meeting Santa, carol singing and enjoying a mince pie.

That year at Dalton's Christmas Lights Switch On has a theme of 'A Storybook Christmas'.

The festive parade will be led by Santa and his reindeer from Tudor Square at 5.30pm. The parade will then head to Market Place ready for the lights switch count down at 6pm.

There will be entertainment and music for all age groups following the lights switch on.

Dalton's Annual Christmas Tree Festival opens at St Mary's Church this Friday from 6pm. The Festival features more than 55 Christmas Trees decorated on the theme of 'The Cinema'.

The display is open each Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 2pm to 6pm until December 27.

It was closed Christmas Day, but open on Boxing Day from 2pm to 5pm.

In 2014, Christmas came earlier for Barrow.

While yet to celebrate Halloween preparations are already under way to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to Barrow.

In the afternoon (25) lights were being strung out between the streetlights at the top of Dalton Road.

With just 61 days remaining until Christmas morning anticipation is already beginning to mount in town.

Popstar and former winner of The Voice Kevin Simm was scheduled to headline the Christmas light switch on and the cast for this year's panto, Sleepy Beauty, has been announced.

In 2015, village royalty and Santa had the honour of switching on the Christmas lights in Askam.

Families turned out this evening to support Askam Christmas lights switch-on.

Father Christmas was joined by Askam carnival queen, Maddison Porter, 12, lady-in-waiting Charlie Miller, 12, and princess Anya Faragher, seven, for the switch-on in Askam's Garden of Remembrance.

The Christmas celebration was organised by Askam Community Events.
