AS PROTESTS from across the world make headlines The Mail is taking us back through some of the protests that have taken place closer to home.
In 2006, supporters of Ford Park Community Centre in Ulverston organised a protest against the taking of land from Ford Park Fields, to make an access road for a new housing development at Popular Grove.
In 2008, the Millom Bike group met with the chairman of Ulverston and district Motoring Club to stand again the closing of bike test centres in Barrow and Kendal.
More than 500 bikers cycled from Barrow to Carlisle via St Bees to take part in the action.
In that same year, a demonstration was held to save Greenodd Post Office. Post mistress Janet Willis was among the demonstrators to save the branch.
