AS we face a return to lockdown once again our local public houses as facing difficult times ahead.
So in honour of the pubs at the heart of our communities, The Mail has taken a trip down memory lane to see why Barrow residents love their locals so much.
In November 2013, Barrow’s Britannia Pub raised more than £1,000 for Movember by encouraging the staff and locals to take part.
While Burns night celebrations at The Furness Railway in Abbey Road in 2015 also saw Piper Mike Ramsay perform for the customers.
The pub is also a firm favourite for football fans.
The Devonshire pub on Barrow Island was the place to watch England’s World Cup campaign in 2014.
