Violins, paint brushes and Monopoly board were seen in action at school’s open event
Staff and children invited the community to get a taste of what happened in the classroom
THERE was plenty of music, arts and science on show when a Furness school let people see what its youngsters did – and a chance to watch some financial strategy in action on the Monopoly board.
The Mail, on Friday, February 14 in 2003, noted: “Staff and children at St Peter’s School in Ireleth invited the community to find out exactly what goes on in the classroom.
“A special open day was held on Wednesday to show parents and friends of the school the type of work the youngsters are involved in.
“Pupils in the reception class and year one showed off their artistic talents by displaying arts and crafts techniques.
“Older children demonstrated their science music and literacy skills to give adults a taste of school life.
“Teachers and governors were also on hand to talk to parents about the achievements of the children and the work of the village school.”
