IT’S off to the panto we go at Grange tonight as Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs entertain the audience at the Victoria Hall.

To mark this traditional form of theatre we are taking a look at Mail Archive pictures from the Beauty and the Beast show held 20 years ago.

This year’s show by the Grange and District Amateur Operatic Society can be seen at 7.30pm and there will be 2.30pm shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Back in December 1999, the lead role of Belle was played by Kathryn Irving and Martin Gregory was the Beast.

The Mail,on December 4, noted: “Lucy Quarmby adds to the fun by not only playing the village idiot, but diving into the orchestra pit to play the piano for the songs.”

Lucy Dell was the deliciously wicked Camille with Alex Eccles and Gary Upton as delightfully foppish marquises.
