A MIXTURE of song, dance and comedy kept the crowds entertained in 2000 when Walney Amateurs presented the on-off Hollywood love story of Mack Sennett and Mabel Normand at Barrow's Forum 28.
The musical Mack and Mabel featured lavish costumes and plenty of slapstick chaos featuring the antics of the Keystone Kops and Garry Foley as Fatty Arbuckle.
The Mail, on Tuesday, November 14, noted: "Julie Lloyd gives a poised and polished performance as Mable.
"Her song Time Heals Everything is especially well done.
"Kay Charnley is ideally cast as Lottie Ames and Tap Your Trouble Away is a highlight.
"The Keystone Kops scene is a wonder, superbly choreographed and performed with gusto by a hard-working, versatile men's chorus."
Other leading roles in the show were taken by Chris Warby and Nick Carson, with the musical being directed by David Marcus, who also played Mack.
