THREE youngsters came up with an unusual way to raise money to help starving families in Ethiopian by  body-popping on Barrow's Dalton Road.
Jason McCarter, of Ainslie Street; Danny Cave, of Cragg Street and Scott Reid, of Ainslie Street, started practising the latest the latest dance craze in September 1984 and by February the following year were ready to put on a public show.
The Mail on February 26 noted that the boys had written to Barrow Borough Council to seek permission for a charity street collection and were waiting for approval.
They explained that the money would be for the famine appeal.
Danny said: "We thought it was a shame because they were not getting much money.
"We thought we could do some body-popping to collect for them."
