PUPILS from Priory Grove Infant School joined Barrow youngsters from St George’s CE Primary and Roose County Primary in trying out some recycled technology in 2000.
The Mail, on Tuesday, November 14, noted that the schools had received computers donated from British Gas offices to be used in classrooms.
They had been due to be destroyed but the company wanted to find a new educational use for them.
Philip Wilcock, for British Gas, said: “Because computer technology is so fast-moving, we are continually upgrading our own office equipment and we wanted to make the best use of the old computers.”
The schools had written letters explaining what the equipment would be used for and got three computers each.
