THERE will be plenty of village fun, food and fell racing on offer tomorrow at Kirkby and to mark the annual gala we are taking a look at some Mail archive pictures from the events held in 2007 and 2008.
This year’s gala is from 2pm to 5pm and is based at the Community Centre sports fields at Beckside, Kirkby.
There are expected to be craft stalls, village club displays, archery, speed football, wellie-wanging, refreshments, a barbecue and a beer tent.
The gala also features a range of fells races in age categories from under-9 to seniors on a course to the summit of Out Park.
It forms part of the championship series for the British Open Fell Runners Association and last year’s senior winner was Ben Mounsey, of Calder Valley, in a time of 39.44 minutes.
