Children at Burlington CE Primary, Kirkby, raised cash tomake their school a more bee-friendly environment. The project included a beecafé made from an old tyre.

50 YEARS AGO
Work was about to start on building two factories atDevonshire Road, Millom. The idea was to attract new employers to the town.
Elaine Palmer, of King Alfred Street, Walney, was chosenas Barrow's new road safety queen at a ball held in Barrow Town Hall.
The cheapest petrol was 31p per gallon at the Dominiongarage run by Robert McAdam on Walney.
