A LOOK at the people, places and events which have shaped Furness can be enjoyed in a talk and picture presentation at Barrow library.

The event is called The Photographic work of Edward and Raymond Sankey and will be presented by Geoff Holme on Thursday, June 20 at 7pm.

Admission is free but you need to book a place by calling 01229 407377

The Sankeys were a father and son duo who documented life in Barrow and Cumbria between 1890 and the 1970s.

Their postcards they created were posted all over the world,

Preserving and interpreting the Sankey collection of 15,000 negatives and 20 original postcard index books is the subject of a Heritage Lottery Fund bid by Signal Film and Media.

The library presentation will involve a short film by Signal for the project to digitise the negatives and make the images available to the public.
