FURNESS church congregations joined forces in 1994 to give a modern musical presentation to traditional Bible stories.
The Saints Alive! show was performed at Barrow's Forum 28.
The Mail, on May 24, noted: "Actors, an orchestra and a choir of around 80 voices, were drawn from a variety of churches throughout Furness for the musical which helped to raise money for St Mary's Hospice in Ulverston.
"Songs, acted scenes and dance sequences were used to help portray the thrill of following Jesus, both in times gone by and the present day."
The event was sponsored by Churches Together in Barrow.
The programme for the event noted: "Many today think of the church as boring, or just a special building for christenings, weddings and funerals."
It said: "But when the church was born nearly 2000 years ago, it was far from boring.
"People's lives were dramatically changed: cowards became heroes, the lame were made to walk, the blind received their sight."
