The History of Kirkby Group is putting the finishing touches to Volumes 14 and 15 in its series of Kirkby Fragments publications.
One is called Trains & Boats & Planes and covers the aircraft crash on Kirkby Moor, the village railway crash and flooding — all in 1939 — and the grounding of the boat Mary Goldsworthy.
The other is called Paradise Lost and takes a detailed look at the old places, names, practises and traditions of Kirkby — many of which have now passed into history.
Both booklets are due to be published by December 10 at £3.50 and you can find out more on the website at www.history-of-kirkby.org
