KEEPING Furness youngsters entertained during the long summer holiday needs plenty of enthusiasm and imagination.

This group of pictures from The Mail archive shows a range of the activities on offer at the Haverigg Summer Playscheme held in 1994.

The Mail, on August 16, gave a taste of the fun and games enjoyed by the children.

Catherine O'Donnell tried her hand at making "eggheads" before painting them with colourful faces, while Jenna Townsend, Stacey Molloy and Collenn Goodwin had fun and kept fit with a session of traditional schoolyard skipping.

Glue and card were put to good use as models were made by Nadine Miller, Victoria Crossman and Christine Crossman.

Emily Mackie made chocolate hedgehogs from biscuits.
