HOW three budding DJs with 2,000 records set up their own broadcasting studio in an outhouse featured in The Mail, on September 6 in 1996.
It noted: "Barrow teenagers Mark Waddington, of Head Meadow, Chris Campbell, of Stackwood Avenue and Matt Lipscombe, from Middleton Avenue, are planning to apply to the Radio Authority for a licence.
"The 13-year-old lads want to take MCM Radio to a wider audience."
St Bernard's pupil Mark said: "We wanted a studio of our own so we painted the outhouse and set everything up ourselves.
"We all want to be DJs when we leave school."
The studio had two decks, a CD player and 2,000 records where the DJs hosted their own shows over the school holidays.
