Helen Loney recorded an average speed of 125.8mph to claim a world record on Coniston Water in her Formula One race boat Crescendo.
A campaign was launched by the the North West Ambulance Service in an attempt to reduce violence and aggression towards ambulance crews in Cumbria.

Three pupils from Barrow's Holker Street School were praised by town mayor George Hartshorn for building an ornamental fish pond in the grounds of Basterfield House for the elderly. They were David Haughin, William Artes and John Crook.
Barrow Amateur Operatic Society was holding a concert at Barrow Public Hall featuring Barrow Shipyard Band and soloist Joseph Ward. Tickets cost from 22p.
Barrow AFC reached the second round of the FA Cup with a victory against Goole Town by three goals to one.
