MAYOR of Barrow, Cllr Jim Park, had his face painted to get into the spirit of summer holiday activities for Furness youngsters in 1990.
He was at Furness Funtime, a month-long programme of supervised sport and leisure activities at a range of venues in Barrow.
The scheme, backed by Asda and Barrow Borough Council, was launched at Forum 28 by the mayor with help from Welfare State musicians and one-man-band Pete Moser.
Also there to add to the fun was the cast of Alfred Barrow School's production of Wheely-a-Bip-Bop.
Activities included snorkelling at Barrow's Abbey Baths.
Cllr Park said: “There's something to suit all ages in the programme and it's very reasonably priced at 40p a session.”
