THE COUNTY OF CUMBRIA (VARIOUS ROADS IN THE WHITEHAVEN AREA) (TEMPORARY TRAFFIC REGULATION) ORDER 2021
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that to enable Northern Gas Networks to carry out utility works ("the Works"), the County Council of Cumbria has made an Order the effect of which is to:
1. Road Closures

Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the following lengths of road:
(a) U4292 St Georges Terrace, Whitehaven, from its junction with Countess Road to its junction with Commodore Street Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of St Georges Terrace, Hugh Street, Lonsdale Street and Countess Road Duration: From 20 September 2021 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref:CO2l-206)

(b) U429I Crosfield Road, Whitehaven, from its junction with Bransty Road to its junction with Earls Road.

Alternative Route: via Bransty Road, North Road and South Bound on Earls Road Only.
Duration: From 11 October 2021 for Approx. 2 weeks (Ref:CO2l-209)
(c) U429I The Green, Whitehaven, from its junction with North Road to its junction with Crosfield Road.

Alternative Route: via Crosfield Road, Bransty Road and North Road.
Duration: From II October 2021 for approx. 2 weeks (Ref:C02l-2IO)

(d) U429I The Green, Whitehaven, from its junction with North Road to its junction with Crosfield Road.

Alternative Route: via North Road, Earls Road and Crosfield Road.
Duration: From I st November 2021 for approx. duration of 2 weeks (Reft C021-212)
A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times
2. One-way Traffic Restrictions:

(a) Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a south westerly direction along that section of U4290 Bank Road, Whitehaven, from its junction with New Road to its junction with North Road.

Alternative Route for north east bound vehicles: via North Road,
Bransty Road, A595 and New Road.
Duration: From 27 September 2021 for approx. 2 weeks

(b) Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a southerly direction along that section of U4290 Earls Road, Whitehaven, from its junction with North Road to its junction with Crosfield Road.

Alternative Route for north bound vehicles: via Crosfield Road, Bransty Road and North Road.
Duration: From 27 September 2021 for approx. 3 weeks (Ref:CO2l-208)
(c) Prohibit any vehicle from proceeding other than in a north easterly direction along that section of U4289 North Road, Whitehaven, from its junction with Bransty Road to its junction with Earls Road.

Alternative Route for south west bound vehicles: via Earls Road, Countess Road and Bransty Road.
Duration: From 18 October 2021 for approx. duration of 3weeks(ReftC02l-2ll)
Nothing in the Order to which this notice relates shall:
(i) Apply to emergency service vehicles, or vehicles being used by statutory undertakers in the performance of their duties in relation to I (a) to (d) inclusive above; and

(ii) Apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a police constable in uniform; and

(iii)Have the effect of preventing at any time access for pedestrians to any premises situated on or adjacent to the road, or to any other premises accessible for pedestrians from, and only from the road; and
(iv)Apply to vehicles being used in connection with the Works. Any queries to the Highways Hotline 0300 303 2992 or email

The Order will come into operation on 20 September 2021 and may continue in force for a maximum duration of eighteen months. However, please note that it is anticipated that the restrictions will only be required as detailed above and only as and when the relevant traffic signs are displayed.
