WOODEND Eric On April 1st, peacefully at home in Holborn Hill, Millom, Eric aged 63 years, beloved husband of the late Stella, much loved dad of Sarah, Rachael and Julie, very dear grandad and good friend to many. A private funeral service will be held on Thursday 15th April at Thorncliffe Crematorium, Barrow. For those wishing to pay their respects, the cortege will leave from Holborn Hill at approximately 9.40am and travel to Lapstone Road, where it will pause outside Millom Conservative Club. After this the cortege will continue along Lapstone Rd to St George's Road and on to the crematorium. Family flowers only, donations in lieu towards MacMillan Cancer Support may be sent to Sheldon (Funeral Services) Ltd, Lapstone Road, Millom. Tel 772295.

Eric always said you could count your close friends on one hand, I always totally agreed with him. Close friends are far and few between, he knew who his close friends were and enjoyed himself with those people.
A team of us played snooker together for years, practicing improving our skills so that we would try to provide good results in the snooker league of which Eric was the Captain. His skills around being Captain were second to none and he always communicated well with people trying to produce positive results.
Eric was always available to talk to as a friend and a person of knowledge, solving most problems around engineering and other issues as soon as you walked in the Cons club. Once you started speaking to him the problem was pretty much solved.
He was the president of the Cons club for a period helping to move forward problems and day to day issues on a regular basic. His detail around clarity and precision was second to none!
