FIRE crews have conducted a training session to help in searches for missing people.

Walney Fire Station has undertaken a training exercise to put their skills to the test.

The crews 'found' a team member who simulated being lost in the North Scale area of Walney.

A spokesman for Walney Fire Station said: "Every year hundreds of people go missing.

"This can be for many reasons from mental health issues to simply getting lost, as a fire and rescue service we can assist our parter agencies by being able to utilise specialist equipment such as lighting and thermal image cameras to aid in searching.

"This training session gave us a chance to put our skills to practice coordinating a search team from the JICU, to locate a member of the crew who simulated being lost in the North Scale area of Walney."
