Step inside Kendal’s world-class cultural hub.

World-class cultural hub, Kendal’s Brewery Arts will host a wide variety of musicians, comedians, theatre productions and artists this Spring.

Brewery Arts is one of the venues being highlighted by the new Culture in South Lakes project, which has received £92,294 from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Homegrown artistic talent is on display at Brewery Arts from now until Saturday March 25 at the venue’s Foyer Gallery and Sugar Store Galley.

A free exhibition called ‘New Beginnings’ is imagining a futuristic vision of the world over the next 50 years, linked to the Brewery Arts’ 50th own Anniversary.

It’s being staged by the GreenDoor Artists, a local not-for-profit artists’ co-operative originally based in Kendal with around 130 members from around Cumbria and North Lancashire.

Live music includes Lisa O’Neill, who has been steadily building her reputation on the Irish and international folk scenes. She even had a special TV highlight when she recently sang her version of Bob Dylan’s ‘All the Tired Horses’ at the end of the final ever episode of Peaky Blinders. Lisa plays at Brewery Arts on March 18.

A snapshot of other upcoming music acts include Scottish/Egyptian instrumentalists The Ayoub Sisters, who rose to stardom when they debuted at number one in the official Classical Charts in April.

Audiences can also enjoy a unique North East brand of ‘Northern Funk’ from Smoove and Turrell, March 24, or a reimagining of Paul Simon’s Graceland album from legendary troubadour Gary Stewart and his spectacular 6-piece band on April 1.

On the comedy front, top stand-ups Carl Hutchinson, Chris McCausland and Rhys James are all heading to Kendal, while Zoe Lyon visits with her Bald Ambition Tour.

There is also plenty of theatre, dance and family entertainment to enjoy. One of the UK’s most popular circus companies, Barely Methodical Troupe, will bring a heady mix of show-stopping acrobatics mixed with the emotional punch of theatre. They present the award-winning smash hit BROMANCE on 31 March.

Along with a packed cinema programme and on-screen viewings from The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera and The National Theatre (NT Live), there is an array of choices for all tastes at Brewery Arts this Spring.
