NEW Barrow rock outfit Wolfpeake have revealed the launch date for their debut single and announced the details of their first live show.

Made up of members from pop punk acts Willowside Park and the now-disbanded Greystone Avenue, with highly-rated local singer-songwriter Jack Hayes fronting his first band, they have hinted at an indie rock approach in the vein of Catfish and the Bottlemen.

The first track, Hennessy, will be released digitally on Thursday September 28, with a teaser video already posted on social media.

Guitarist Sam O'Donnell says they've been sitting on the song for a while now and can't wait for people to hear it.

"We put the whole song together the very first time we all stepped in a room together.

"We're all super positive about starting out and the songs we've produced are sounding really, really strong.

"There's definitely an air of excitement around us every time we play together and we can't wait for people to hear what we've got going on.

"Hopefully Hennessy will be a good starting point and we can encourage others to come see us at a show or keep an ear out for future music."

The first live appearance comes three weeks later, when they join The Sides for a headline show at The Derby, in Barrow, on Friday October 20.

For drummer Callum Gibbons and bassist Arron Twinney - bandmates in Greystone Avenue, as well as acts such as Beyond Betrayal and All Becomes Clear - it will be their first time on the stage for almost a year.

Callum says: "I think myself and Arron are especially looking forward to playing live again after a year out from the scene.

"Every member has put a lot of effort into the writing of each song and each of us are stoked to show everyone what we've been working on for the past six months, so the gig can't come quick enough."

Jack, who is stepping into a whole new realm having established himself on the local acoustic scene, has cast aside his initial nerves and is excited for the big reveal.

"I've never played live with a band before and the music we have been making has surprised me, because I've only ever written songs on acoustic," he says.

"Seeing the songs come alive with a full band is incredible! I couldn't be happier with how everything is sounding.

"I really hope that people are just as surprised as I was, when I heard our music come together for the first time."

Having been together since the spring, a lot has been happening behind the scenes. There is more music on the way, and plans afoot to get out and play further afield.

Arron continues: "Our next plan is to get out and gig as much as we can, and we're definitely planning to get on tour.

"We have some more really great songs written, ready for recording, so the EP will be with you soon.

"I feel Hennessy is a great example of what Wolfpeake is all about and we hope you all love it as much as we do!"

Hennessy, by Wolfpeake, will be released via all major digital retailers on September 28.

Wolfpeake and The Sides appear at The Derby, in Barrow, on October 20, from 7.30pm, and entrance is free.
