FOUR emerging rock acts come together for a Lake District live music showcase this weekend.

The Windermere Winter Jam arrives on Saturday February 11, with young bands from across the north appearing on the bill.

Up-and-coming Yorkshire outfit Summer City are the headliners, who have been making a name for themselves with shows across the country for a number of years, since forming in their early teens.

They're in the mould of acts such as All Time Low and Blink 182, blending pop and rock in an upbeat sound.

Big achievements so far have included their track being featured as BBC Radio One's Introducing single of the week and multiple UK tours and support slots with the likes of The Summer Set, As It Is, Fort Hope, and Kids In Glass Houses.

Atlas are also on the bill. Formed in Lancaster, but regular visitors to the Lakes, they have played a number of small festivals, winning new fans with their blend of pop, rock and blues.

With Atlas only properly established in January last year, they have been working on plenty of original material in the pipeline.

Barrow bands Fight For Friday and The Sides complete the line-up: the former are a young punk band who have been establishing themselves with a series of out-of-town shows, and a couple of EP releases to date; and the latter are a new name to look out for locally, and are set to release their debut material with a hometown show the night before this Lakes date.

The show takes place at Windermere School on Saturday February 11, from 6.30pm, with all proceeds being donated to a charity called Tiger Kloof.
