THE most gruesome stage show in the country is back in Cumbria this February with a brand-new action-packed production.
In 2018, the Circus of Horrors celebrates 250 years since the birth of this spectacular art form London, with a nationwide tour that calls at The Forum, in Barrow, on Saturday February 10.
The brainchild of Sergeant Major Philip Astley, the father of modern circus, his vision went on to become a major spectacle throughout the world ever since.
It is certain that 'Circus', and its relevance in 2018 will become a talking point throughout the year and The Circus of Horrors, the UK's front runner in contemporary and alternative circus, is sure to feature heavily.
The new show is simply called Voodoo: awoken by a ouija board, the curse of the voodoo is causing devastation.
The spectacular features an amazing amalgamation of bizarre and fantastic circus acts, all woven into a sensational shock and horror story, featuring the darkest of magic.
The Circus of Horrors started out at the 1995 Glastonbury Festival and became an instant hit, touring all over the world.
In addition to the current 100-venue UK theatre tour, the Cicus of Horrors has recently performed in festivals throughout the world, including Download, Reading, Leeds, Isle of Wight, and T in the Park in the UK, Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, Wacken festival in Germany, plus shows in Chile, Uruguay, Holland, Belgium, Argentina, France, Italy, Ireland, Finland, Hong Kong and Moscow, where it created history by becoming the first UK circus ever to perform in Russia.
It also became the only circus ever to reach the finals of Britain's Got Talent and the first to perform in London's West End for more than 100 years.
The Circus again hit the headlines last year, when founder Dr Haze stood as a parliamentary candidate in Brighton, preferring to be known as an 'alternative' as opposed to an independent candidate.
In addition to Britain's Got Talent, TV appearances now include the X Factor, The Slammer, Daybreak, Fairground Attractions, Who Wants to be a Millionaire, Body Shockers, Fake Reaction, This Morning, Ant & Dec, and The One Show.
Circus of Horrors comes to The Forum, in Barrow, on Saturday February 10, from 7.30pm, and tickets are available from the venue's box office.
