THE Northern Ballet returns to Furness with its hugely popular children's production Ugly Duckling.

As seen on CBeebies, the tour is the first time the show has been featured on the stage since 2013.

The production comes to The Forum, in Barrow, on Tuesday June 19, re-telling the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.

Ugly Duckling is lonely and fed-up, ignored by those around her who think she is too ugly to fit in.

She tries to make friends with fellow ducklings as well as with frogs, cats and even a fox, but realising she is not like any of these animals, she is left sad and alone. Bright yellow and a bit mischievous, the other ducklings don’t want to play with Ugly because she looks and dances differently to them.

Follow the duckling on her journey as she overcomes her troubles and realises that she was beautiful all along.

Ugly Duckling is the perfect opportunity for little ones to enjoy live ballet, music and theatre for the first time.

The child-friendly performance lasts approximately 40 minutes.

Northern Ballet has grown to become one of the best-loved dance companies in the world. Creating full-length ballets which appeal to as many people as possible from all walks of life, the company tours throughout the UK and overseas.

Their achievements in raising the profile of dance in the UK have been recognised through a number of prestigious nominations and awards, including the Patron’s Award, the Audience Award, and Martha Leebolt won the award for Outstanding Classical Female Performance at the annual National Dance Awards.

Ugly Duckling comes to The Forum on Tuesday June 19, with performances at noon, 2pm and 4pm. Tickets are available from the venue's box office.
