AN internationally-renowned comic will open proceedings at this year's Another Fine Fest.

The Ulverston event will launch a day early this year, with Canadian stand-up Tony Law kicking things off with a Friday night show.

The main event - a full day of live music and performances across more than 10 venues in the town - takes place on June 17, but the Edinburgh Festival favourite will be appearing the night before at the Laurel and Hardy Museum.

Tickets for the show are on sale now, with the rest of the programme of free events yet to be announced.

Multi-award-winning comedian Law will be wrapping up his current A Law Undo His-elf What Welcome tour ahead of his Ulverston appearance, where he will be performing a preview of his 2017 Edinburgh show.

A regular on UK television screens over the past five years, he has become one of the most celebrated live performers on this side of the Atlantic.

His penchant for talking nonsense often leads him on surreal adventures, and a lot of Law's material features tales of his time-travelling exploits in the company of his sausage dog, which gave the title to his Dog Of Time show at the Edinburgh Festival.

He performed on Russell Howard's Good News as part of one of the extended episodes, and as a panellist on Never Mind the Buzzcocks, before truly gaining recognition in the UK.

His 2012 Edinburgh show, Maximum Nonsense, was nominated for best comedy show, after which he landed more high-profile TV appearances on Have I Got News for You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, and Comedy Central's The Alternative Comedy Experience. Also in 2012, he won the Chortle Award for Breakthrough act - 14 years after starting out in comedy.

Tickets for Tony Law's appearance at the Laurel and Hardy Museum on Friday June 16 are available from the venue, and online by following the link HERE .
