FORMER Inspiral Carpets frontman Tom Hingley will be making an appearance in Furness later this month.

The leading indie performer is a regular visitor to the county, and will be appearing at The Derby, in Barrow, for another round of acoustic folk rock numbers.

As vocalist with Inspiral Carpets from 1989 to 2011, he enjoyed many chart successes, and since leaving the Manchester indie band, has been focusing mainly on solo work, showcasing his self-penned acoustic folk rock numbers.

Besides his individual work – which now stands at six albums – Hingley has also recorded four albums with his other band Tom Hingley and the Lovers, and since the final parting of the ways with Inspiral Carpets in 2011 has also penned a “warts and all” book called Carpet Burns about his life with them.

They are famously remembered for being the act that Oasis’s Noel Gallagher served his apprenticeship as a roadie with.

The show in Barrow on Friday September 29 will see him perform material from his latest acoustic record, Sand, some well-known covers and perhaps some material from his past with Inspiral Carpets.

Music starts around 9pm, and entrance is free. Support comes from Jordan Gaffney and Jack Hayes.
