THE Lake District's top jazz bar has another busy week, with three live acts making their way to Zeffirellis, in Ambleside.

The music venue, upstairs from the cinema, stages free shows on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with Benjamin Robinson the first to arrive.

One-half of the duo Sullivan & Gold, he brings his solo set to the Lakes, which features material from the Northern Ireland Music Prize nominees.

Sullivan & Gold released their debut album, For Foes, in 2013 to critical acclaim, receiving airplay on Radio 1, Radio Ulster, and RTE Radio. Tracks from the album have been reworked for his one-man dates.

Friday's show features Cumbrian pair Lawrence Woof on violin and Matt Cowe on guitar - known as String Zoo.

The duo play gypsy swing, ballads, pop tunes and beautiful Cumbrian folk melodies. Lawrence and Matt first played together at the Manchester International Festival and both maintain busy performing schedules playing across a wide range of genres.

Two of Scotland’s finest instrumentalists unite for a show in this intimate setting on Saturday evening.

Paul Towndrow - a long-standing member of the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra – teams up with Steve Hamilton, pianist for Van Morrison and Billy Cobham.

Demonstrating the art of the duo with lyrical pieces and dazzling flourishes, they exude relaxed company, producing music of great beauty, lush harmony and sweet melody.

All three shows start at 8.30pm and offer free entry.
