THE UK's leading live Northern Soul act returns to Ulverston this spring for the third consecutive year.

The Soultrain headline once again at Ulverston's Got Soul, taking place at the Coronation Hall on Saturday May 6.

A new line-up - which the Lancashire band are boasting to be their strongest to date - has been together since last summer, and are now on top form ahead of their South Cumbria return.

The biggest change comes in the form of Soultrain’s new lead singer Darrell Smith. Darrell comes from a Northern Soul family background and has been a professional vocalist for a number of years.

The charismatic frontman, with a remarkably large vocal range, has been delivering some well-received performances since he joined the band earlier last year.

Other new arrivals in the band include drummer Gary Owen and guitarist Leigh McGarvie, who complete a new-look rhythm section, which is now sounding tighter than ever.

This is highlighted by the extra enthusiasm witnessed on the dance floors at every Soultrain show since the changes in the summer of 2016.

The Soultrain's bassist, Gary Ward, says: "Our audiences have really taken to Darrell and he seems to get that extra 10 per cent out of them at every gig.

"The whole band have been given a boost by our new arrivals and we can’t wait to return to Ulverston, this is one of our favourite venues and the audience are always up for a good time."

The Soultrain will be playing live, the very best Northern Soul anthems from Wigan Casino, Twisted Wheel and Blackpool Mecca, including songs by Dobie Gray, Frank Wilson, Al Wilson, Dean Parish, Tony Clarke and many more.
