THE hugely-successful summer season at Theatre by the Lake sees all its long-running productions come to an end in the coming weeks.

The company of actors have been working at the Keswick venue since the spring, with the shows opening between May and August.

The first to close will be As You Like It, on Tuesday October 31. This vibrant new production of Shakespeare's irresistible comedy has been one of the most popular in the season.

Set in the modern world of fake news and paranoid leaders, it has been transformed in a beautiful and bold new production, featuring live music and all the colour, fun and energy of a summer festival.

Remarkable Invisible and After the Dance both draw to a close on Wednesday November 1; the former is a rich and compelling new play from award-winning writer Laura Eason, exploring the complex joy, love, and disappointments anyone with a family will recognise; and the latter is a major revival of Terence Rattigan’s heart-rending play - neglected for many years, it is now considered to be one of the great works of a master dramatist.

Miss Julie is the next to close, on Friday November 3, with tickets still available for each night's showing. August Strindberg’s sexually-charged classic has been given a new lease of life in a world premiere adaptation by renowned playwright Howard Brenton.

Wrapping up the whole summer season on Saturday November 4, will be the final night of Handbagged. Having been nominated for an Olivier Award for Best New Comedy in 2015 and going on to be a West End smash hit, this funny, insightful and brilliantly sharp satire has been equally well-received in Keswick.

Tickets for all the productions are still on sale, and can be booked via the Theatre by the Lake box office - though some nights have already sold out.

The cast has now been announced for the Keswick venue's winter production, The Secret Garden, with Theatre by the Lake regular Frances Marshall starring alongside Natasha Cottriall, Theo Cowan, Michael Kinsey, Antony Jardine, Chris Jack, Rina Mahoney, Russell Richardson, Coral Sinclair, Olivia Sweeney and Flo Wilson.

The show runs from November 24 to January 13, and tickets are available from the venue now.
