A BARROW street artist has a hometown exhibition, which has opened at The Forum.

The works by John Goose will be on display until the end of the March, and showcases his paintings and up-cycled furniture.

The former Barrow Sixth Form College pupil moved to London for university, but left the education system after just one year in the capital. In the eight years since, he has been based out of makeshift studios in Manchester, creating his artwork and working on commissioned pieces.

He says: "My paintings are made over long periods of time with many layers. They are improvised with slowly constructed compositions, combining shapes, which slowly interact with each other over time.

"How the paintings will develop is a great mystery to me but it is the process and journey that fascinates me, the possibilities of how my work could evolve are essentially infinite.

"My work translates my journeys, memories and feelings and my underpinning fascination with the universe and life beyond what we can see."

John has created a lot of street art around Manchester, and has begun creating experimental film work, recently collaborating on a music video called the King of Walney .

He is currently transferring his artwork on to pieces of furniture, and the chairs that he painted for The Forum were inspiration for this.

• John Goose's artwork is on display in the exhibition space at the venue until Friday March 31, and entrance is free.
